Here's a thing; me and Sammo are getting married in October.
Does that mean we're grown ups now?

Well, firstly, congrats on the forthcoming institutionalisation. Save me some cake please!

Grown up? Hmm, depends what you do really, once wed - if it's gonna turn out you're going for walks in matching kagoules and trousers, saving vouchers for a 2-for-1 at the local Harvester and then going out just to use the vouchers and other things of that nature (looking at bog standard volvos and thinking "ooh, I could get loads of wood and boxes and labradors in the back of that" is a good (bad) example) then yes - grownupness has arrived. Otherwise? I dunno, mentally I got to 18 and liked it so much, I've stayed there. Grow old? Yes. Grow up? Make me... Posted Image

Apparently we're having a cheese cake (that is a load of cheese piled up in wedding cake form rather than a sweet cheesecake), I'll put a bit of stilton to one side for you :D

Cheers for the well wishes too spa's.

I'm glad I only found out today that Feta cheese is made from a mix of sheep and goats' milk. I mean, it's a nice bit of curd, but had I known it was woolly lactation it would've probably coloured my view (and taste) somewhat. As it stands, though, I'm off cheese for a while - I'm fucking sick of it. And that's a statement I never thought I'd make. Greek cooking. Fuck me, more oil than the Exxon Valdez - although fair play, I bet there's not a shop in the country that sells constipation tablets. I'm not kidding, 3 days in and the daily drop was coming out like a fat kid down a waterslide.

Mythos beer - damn fine. Retsina - like licking petrol off a pine table. Metaxa - like licking petrol off petrol. The local ouzo - like tyres dissolved in acid.

Thus ends todays' travel reportage. :D

I've got a bottle of Penderyn here ready to be opened, is that the sort of 'Gallardo' experience you're thinking of? :D

My Dad's just got back from work with a bottle of Penderyn (along with an Isle of Jura, Old Pultenay and an Ardbeg), which were thanks for doing some wedding snaps for a colleague.

Is it any good?

Erm, no - not really! It's not bad bad, but a little too harsh and uncultured for me. I'm not an age snob, but I reckon the Penderyns will improve in time - it's still a bit too new spirit tasting for me. I'd be on the Ardbeg like a flash though - a lovely peaty, oily dram. <img src='http://www.glcforum.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/).gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

But then, I've always said there's no such thing as a bad malt, just ones you don't like... <img src='http://www.glcforum.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/;).gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Well we've just cracked the Penderyn open (had a long line of other stuff to get through first :D ) and it's well, a bit boring. Nothing wrong with it, but as the only Welsh single malt, you'd like it to be memorable in some way.

The Old Pultenay has gone, the Jura is still here (already had an open Jura which has since been drunk), the Ardbeg is also still here (saving it), and we still have 2 Laphroaigs (10 yrs), a Glenfiddich, an Aberlour and some rank Glen Rannoch to get through!

And, for some bizarre reason, a bottle of Sambuca.
